Fans have been waiting for new music from Toronto noise-punk duo Death From Above 1979 ever since they broke up in 2006. Despite some riotous reunion shows from drummer/singer Sebastien Grainger and bass guitarist/synth player Jesse Keeler, the material has all been previously released from either DFA's only full-length album, You're a Woman, I'm a Machine, or from various singles and EPs. That is, until recently.

"Together Jesse and I are coming to share new material, and to work out the kinks," Grainger wrote on the band's website prior to their Canadian tour. "Some songs don’t have any words yet. Some songs are like bucking rodeo horses that we can just barely hold on to. But one thing we are sure of is that the songs are sooooo f--king exciting."

Grainger followed that up by asking audience members to "respect the sanctity of what we are doing" by refraining from recording video or audio, but added that they wouldn't be enforcing any such policies at the shows. "It is our preference to keep what we are doing on this tour between us," he wrote.

One date into their tour and video has already surfaced of two new songs, and while the quality is not the best, it's clear DFA isn't putting out an acoustic record next.

Watch footage from the Oct. 28 concert in Hamilton, Ont., of Grainger and Keeler in vintage DFA 1979 form — meaning deafening vocals, spastic drumming and rapid-fire basslines.
