Aboriginal Music Week has wrapped for another year. This year saw 34 acts perform over five days at the music festival in Winnipeg.

The festival showcased artists from across North America, who played everything from hip-hop to Inuit throat singing, to blues, rock, folk, instrumental, experimental, electronic, techno and country.

"There were a lot of really special moments at Aboriginal Music Week this year," said festival chair Alan Greyeyes in an interview after the festival finished. "2,056 trick-or-treaters came to the Safe Halloween, artists united at the open mic, and A Tribe Called Red brought the house down at the Electric Pow Wow."

"We're already working on 2013 and really excited to build on our successes this year," he added.

Aboriginal Music Week will be changing dates in 2013. The festival usually takes place in November, but will move to the third week in August next year and remain in Winnipeg.
