Welcome! Today The Craig Norris Hour’s Listener Co-Host Initiative brings you me, Kirk Hamilton. You may know me from the blogs as kirkofdoom. Or you may be wondering just who the heck I am. Well, come join us on a mystical journey of magical mayhem. Or maybe just a bunch of songs played in no particular order.

I won’t bore you with my life story, but I will say I have been a little bit addicted to music for as long as I can remember. I started my path to obsession with the popular music stations in elementary school -- tuning in every night to Z95s Top 10 at 10 - but that has since morphed into it taking over my life. Since I knew I would never be able to be a musician, I did the next best thing. I got into radio. I am currently between the first and second year of BCIT’s Radio Broadcast Program, and I am absolutely loving every minute of it. (Is it September yet? Can I go back to school now?). I will be done next year and I don’t think I’m telling tales out of school when I say I would very much like to work at Radio 3. This love of music also got me to start my own blog. I’m not one to toot my own horn (hi-o?), but I’ve been doing it for a little over a year and it gets  tens of visitors a day, and (much to my surprise) has actually become sort of almost well known. More than once my reputation has preceded me, to my complete and utter shock.

I blame The New Pornographers, especially Dan Bejar, and Grant Lawrence for costing me thousands of dollars on albums or live shows discovered through R3, as they were integral in my introduction. I went to see The New Pornos play live in ‘06 and was given a CBCR3/Mint Records Session CD Sampler Mix Thingummy. I had heard rumours of a third CBC before, but this had me intrigued. I soon after went to the tubes to find out more, and there I happened across Grant Lawrence and his Best of 06 Podcast. The first song he played was 3000 Flowers by Destroyer. And from that moment, I was hooked.

Thanks to the very community-minded spirit of R3, and the fantastic people who inhabit the blog (hold for applause), I have also had the pleasure of meeting a myriad of great people, including (but certainly not limited to) kn0ttyn3rb, AlexOfAnders, boders, LeighE, melshim, laurenjean, and our Mayor, Christine McAvoy, who has dubbed this merry band of misfits the YVR3.

And now for the shameless self promotion. You can find my aforementioned blog ramblings at 3am Revelations. The BCIT Radio Station, which I will (hopefully) be Music Director for, is Evolution1079, so listen for me -- or at least my influence -- there come September. Aside from my love of music, I also have grown quite fond of production, so hear some of my work here. Or you can follow my random, and usually inane, thoughts on the Twitters.

So in closing, thank you. Thank you Craig, thank you Grant, thank you Lana and Lisa and Tariq and Chris and Vish (even if you are on too early for me). Thank you Steve and everyone else behind the scenes, whose voices we don’t hear. Thank you YVR3, those mentioned above and all the honourary members. Thank you to everyone on the blog. Thank you to all the musicians who make this all happen. Thank you Al Gore for inventing the internet. And thank you Flying Spaghetti Monster for bringing us all together.

Oh, and I guess as a poll question for the day, I shall ask: If you could have any two musicians/bands/whatever collaborate on a project together, who would it be?

One that struck me a little while ago was Dan Mangan and Jason Collett. I think the two of them together could make something absolutely brilliant. After hearing k-os’ Uptown Girl, I really want a song featuring Murray Lightburn and Emily Haines singing together. Or Do Make Say Think with Explosions in the Sky, to make the single most epic song ever created. Or maybe Matthew Good with Jónsi, who also just so happen to be two of my favourite musicians. What about YOU!?
