As Guitar Month continues here at CBC Music, we thought we'd bring in a pro player to help us launch a new video series called CBC Music Lessons. When it came to choosing the talent, Triumph guitarist Rik Emmett was an obvious choice.

Emmett is the axeman responsible for '80s brainworms like "Lay it on the Line," "Magic Power" and "Never Surrender," and his four-decade-long career has earned him nods from the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Junos Hall of Fame and the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame. He also made our Guitar Month list of Canada's top 25 guitarists ever.

In this video series from CBC Music's Ben Aylsworth, Emmett delivers an intro to soloing and the double neck guitar, and provides lessons on a few of Triumph's greatest hits. So dust off your electric, and relive the glory days of this Canrock institution.
