This past weekend, the University of BC's CiTR radio station celebrated a whopping 75 years on the air.
The station has claimed members as varied as former Canadian Prime Minister John Turner, to Evaporators lead singer Nardwuar the Human Serviette.
For the entirety of the 1990s, I wrote critical music articles, reviews, and a monthly column for DiSCORDER Magazine, CiTR Radio's print magazine.
On Saturday night, I gamely and excitedly attended the reunion, looking forward to reconnecting with old and familiar faces.
Unfortunately, it was a traumatizing and stressful event, as a non-stop stream of people came up to me, quoting reviews I wrote 15-20 years ago, reminding me what an asshole I was in the 1990s. Major backfire. I left early.
