Austin Peralta, virtuosic jazz pianist and collaborator with producer Flying Lotus, died on Nov. 21. He was 22 years old.
The son of legendary skateboarder and director Stacy Peralta, Austin learned to play piano at six years old. By the time he was 16, he had already released two albums, performed across the globe and collaborated with well known jazz musicians such as Ron Carter and Allan Holdsworth.
Austin's most recent efforts were as part of the Brainfeeder family, the label started by Flying Lotus (Steven Ellison), who released the jazz pianist's 2011 album Endless Planets.
