Skrillex releases 8-bit video game Skrillex Quest

Divisive dubstep artist Skrillex recently released his own 8-bit video game, aptly titled Skrillex Quest.

The vintage-inspired game was developed by Jason Oda and bears a striking resemblance to the original 1986 Nintendo hit The Legend of Zelda, which, incidentally, was released before Skrillex, otherwise known as Sonny Moore, was born.

But instead of costing you hours upon hours in your parent's basement, developing A and B button-sized callouses on your fingers, Skrillex Quest only takes approximately 15 minutes to complete (not proud that I know this first-hand).

In it, you fight blocks of dust glitch that are threatening the world, all while trying to save the princess. Not surprisingly, Skrillex music plays throughout (“Summit” and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”), and seizure-inducing flashes ensure that your eyes will hurt for hours afterwards — just like you've been to a Skrillex concert!

Speaking of places you don't want to be, the final showdown with a giant, Skrillex-glasses-wearing dust glitch happens at what looks like a menacing rave (pictured above).

I won't tell you what happens after you beat the game, but let's just say it doesn't involve ridding the world of Skrillex music forever. Quite the opposite, actually.

Find out for yourself by playing Skrillex Quest.
