Growing up with the last name Gay was quite an adventure. Besides a little mockery, I didn’t have a name quite like the numerous Jenny’s and Melissa’s. My name was never to be found on a key chain souvenir. Oh how I longed to be a Bridgette.
When I travelled to the southern states, people often thought ‘Lana Gay’ was my first name, and said in southern drawl, it’s actually quite adorable. Funny, most people usually call me by my complete name anyway.
I’m happy with all seven letters in my name. Come to think of it, I was almost an Olga (thanks Aunt Lana for saving the day!). I think I’d actually be a different person if I was Olga Gay.
But what about your name?
Do you like it? Did you grow into it?
What does it mean?
Do you believe your name shapes your future?

Coming up, we’ll find out why D-Sisive is changing his name, how Justin Rutledge became a JR, and what translated name became one of The Acorn's album titles.
