Before we say so long to our X3 Artist of the Month (and my abstinence from bold text) I thought I'd focus our attention upon Black Mountain and their excellent new album, Wilderness Heart, which four of you bloggers can win a CD copy of by listening closely to today's show!
Though known as a powerful force of classic rock 'n' roll fury, Black Mountain sound incredibly dynamic on Wilderness Heart. Aside from the Led Zeppelin groove of "The Hair Song" and Thin Lizzy slink of "Old Fangs"--two songs we've been playing a lot around here--there are some lovely, patient tunes like "Buried By the Blues" and the orchestral psych-folk of "The Space of Your Mind." It's a heady, intriguing mix that demands full attention and is a dream record for any true blue rock fan.
