Royal Wood, “The Glory” (featuring Sarah Slean)
Stop-motion animation and time-lapse photography bring tiny dioramas to life in Royal Wood’s sweeping, landscape-rich new video, which also features a performance by Sarah Slean. The shoot involved 28 sets built over three months, and some shots took as much as 13 hours to film.  Watch the video, then a behind-the-scenes clip below.

Wake Owl, “Wild Country”
Waterfalls flow, a woman dances, forests stand tall and musicians play in this artful black and white video by Wake Owl, whose first single “Gold” was featured on Grey’s Anatomy. This track also hit the charts, debuting in the top 10 on CBC Radio 3.

Valleys, “Undream a Year”
Tillie Perks wanders out of her apartment and onto city streets in this dark and dreamy new clip by Montreal duo Valleys; but rather than encountering regular Joes, the people she meets seem a little, well, gravitationally challenged.

The Belle Game, “Wait Up For You”
Two girls fall for each other in this latest by Vancouver’s the Belle Game. Trouble is, they’re part of a commune, and the patriarchs don’t take too kindly to escapees – and they seem to have a way with fire.

The Matinee, “Young and Lazy”
“We were young and lazy, we were only 18,” sings the Matinee front man Matt Layzell on this country-tinged track. Driving around in a ’70s station wagon, riding bikes, setting off fireworks, and swimming in a stranger’s backyard pool, the teens in this new video live large as the band reminisces from the front porch.

Swollen Members, “Inception”
Rhymes about everything from insanity to cryogenics, and from aerospace to St. Augustine populate the latest clip from West Coast hip-hop stalwarts Swollen Members, who perform in rooms filled with jellyfish, antlers, and walls of words.

New Country Rehab, “Luxury Motel”
A little boy can’t swim in the ocean and a family can’t fish by the shore in “Luxury Motel,” a performance video by roots rocker New Country rehab that explores the darker side of land use as the walls close in.

METZ, "Wasted"
A photo portrait studio populated with oddball couples, creepy kids, offbeat athletes and other oddities takes on an even weirder hue thanks to the pounding guitar, drum and vocal force of Toronto noise rockers METZ.

Language Arts, “Wonderkind”
At the other end of the thematic spectrum comes “Wonderkind” by folk rockers Language Arts, whose video features a mighty cute toy doll who travels the backwoods in a tin can ATV, sleeps under the stars, plays for acorn critters, and earns his keep by busking. But when he gets captured by a money-minded, cigar-smoking dude, will he ever break free?

Teenage Kicks, “Middle of the Night”
After sizing each other up at the bar, a guy and a girl head home, strip down and get hot ‘n’ heavy – and even break out a few dance moves – in this steamy, skin-heavy video by Toronto rockers Teenage Kicks, which leaves the couple seeing stars.
