Esprit Orchestra is Canada's only full-sized orchestra devoted exclusively to performing and promoting new orchestral music. Tonight, they celebrate their 30th year as an orchestra. For the event, they are even including Jimi Hendrix in their repertoire.
Here at SHIFT, we celebrate a great many styles, genres, and eras of music. Our colleague Robert Rowat has discovered the element that unites them all: eyeglasses. His article, dubbed Specs, Drugs, and Rock n' Roll, goes from Schubert to Elton John, and hits everybody in between. How else would you know that Elton John demands a hotel room specifically for his glasses when on tour?
