Sold out weeks in advance, Canada's most anticipated orchestral concert of 2012–13 took place last Sunday at the Maison symphonique de Montreal — a performance of Giuseppe Verdi's Messa da Requiem, given in celebration of the Italian composer's 200th anniversary and, more importantly, capping international conducting sensation Yannick Nézet-Séguin's 13th season with the Orchestre Métropolitain.
CBC/Radio-Canada was there to capture every thrilling moment — from quiet choral whispers to the most terrifying orchestral tuttis — and now the full 90-minute performance is available for listening right here on CBC Music, complete with a photo gallery to complement your listening experience.
PLAYClick the play button to listen to the entire Requiem, or visit Concerts on Demand to select your favourite movement.
But before you click that play button, you must take a couple of minutes to watch our video clip that's been making the rounds this week and generating a lot of online love. Even if you've already seen it, just try and stop yourself from watching it again. Go on, we know you want to.
This concert will also be broadcast on Sunday, June 2, 2013, on CBC Radio 2's In Concert with host Paolo Pietropaolo.
