Yes, that Molly Ringwald. If you’re thinking The Breakfast Club, you are right. But even though Ringwald is best known for her performances as an actor in the iconic John Hughes movies Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink, she’s also a singer. Not only that, a singer who comes by her jazz chops honestly — her father, Bob Ringwald, was a jazz pianist.
CBC Music will have a Q&A with Ringwald in the days to come. But for now, have a listen to her debut recording, Except…Sometimes, streaming until the album is released on April 9. It’s a collection of classic jazz standards, with one exception — she caps it off with a wistful jazz version of a song any Breakfast Club viewer will recall: “Don’t You (Forget About Me).”
