Danny Michel's latest album, Black Birds are Dancing Over Me, may be the best of his career. It's so good, in fact, that Michel still has more brilliant material from the recording session that wasn't on the original album. The singer-songwriter, based in Kitchener-Waterloo, recorded the album last winter while down in Belize, and released it on the Six Shooter label last fall.
There will be more news for Michel fans coming out on April 9, but for now here's a sneak peek. CBC Music has the video exclusive of a new Michel song called "Sad And Beautiful World." The song continues to blend Michel's songwriting with the sounds and rhythms of the Garifuna Collective, a fusion that makes his Juno-nominated Black Birds are Dancing Over Me such a unique record.
Below, Michel and friends fry up a Latin American feast, including some very tasty-looking tacos, while recording a video for "Sad and Beautiful World."
