The votes have been counted and the results are in! We started with almost 3,000 artists... now we're down to two.

Your final pairing in the Searchlight competition for Canada's Best New Artist is...

The Good Ol' Goats (Cranbrook BC) versus Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case (Corner Brook, Newfoundland).

Here's a few quick facts about the final pairing:

- Both bands feature banjos prominently. Battle of the banjos!

- Sherman Downey's band is five members strong, while the Good Ol' Goats boast six members.

- A whopping 5,545 kilometres separates Cranbrook BC from Corner Brook NL.

- What are the chances that the Top Two would each come from a town with "Brook" in its name?!? Battle of the Brooks!

- All the members of the Good Ol' Goats are under 18 and several of them are graduating high school this June.

- Sherman Downey is the only person in the Searchlight competition with dreadlocks.

- 17-year-old Joelle Winkel of the Good Ol' Goats has been the final female contestant for the past several rounds.

- Shannon Tweed, wife of Gene Simmons and daughter of Dildo, NL, has tweeted her support for Sherman Downey.
