Hey now! It's National Hum time and I wanna hear more about any upcoming musical happenings that you're looking forward to. For my part, I'm focusing today's show on the (weewerk) records eighth anniversary parties taking place at the Silver Dollar in Toronto this Thursday and Friday night! And I have a pair of tickets to Thursday night to offer up to a fortunate blogger as well.
Founded 15 eight years ago (I have to pay more attention to whatever my show's premise might be), (weewerk) has released music by some wonderful artists, some of whom are playing these celebratory concerts. Here's the scheduled line-up:
Thursday December 2nd
THE BURNING HELL, FEMBOTS, JENNY OMNICHORD, TWO-MINUTE MIRACLES, PROOF OF GHOSTS & THE BARMITZVAH BROTHERS - Hosted by Vish Khanna ($10adv / $12 door)
Friday December 3rd
UNITED STEEL WORKERS OF MONTREAL, Special (weewerk) Guest (described as "Broodish"), GREAT LAKE
SWIMMERS, CANTEEN KNOCKOUT, THE VILLAGE MEAT & BARZIN - Hosted by Craig Norris ($12adv / $15 door)
So, I'll be playing music by most of these people and label alumni this morning and I also have a pair of tickets to the Thursday show to give away. Stick around and listen to win.
Are you planning on attending any of these (weewerk) anniversary shows in Toronto or else seeing any of the aforementioned artists in the near future? I have a pair of tickets to the Thursday show to offer to the first organism (it could be a rooster!) on the blog to respond with a correct answer to a question I'll ask on the air during today's show. If this ends up being you, please e-mail vish_khanna [at] cbcradio3.com with "You work, (weewerk)" in the subject line, and your blog moniker, real name, and the winning answer in your message.
What other local musical events and/or festivals are you most looking forward to over the next while?
