These days, you're sure to find me either here at the CBC or waaaaaaaaaay on the other side of the city, at the UBC campus. It's a busy time of year!
In addition to my role in the host chair, as well as my band duties, I'm also Grad Student. As crazy as my schedule gets though, I have to say it's kind of fun to have a variety of creative pursuits going at once, especially since each of them feeds off the other. In that sense, it's easy to understand why a lot of musicians and songwriters spend their downtime with a paintbrush or a camera in hand.
Another vocation frequently chosen by musicians is that of writing. You'd be amazed how many R3 artists have actually been published. Encouraging, as I'm studying Creative Writing myself, right now. And just look at R3 host / musician Grant Lawrence who is having a great run with his new book.
On today's show, we'll unveil some Canadian musicians who write books, or work with writers, or own publishing houses. And if there are any we miss, I hope you'll let us know by posting them on our blog.
And now, Chapter 1...
