Good morning, listeners! Jay Ferguson of the not so new-ish rock n roll combo, Sloan, here. Tuesday = New Release Day and we have five new tracks to play for you this week from the wide spectrum that the Canadian underground music scene has to offer.
There’s the latest from Toronto’s difficult to categorize Entire Cities, some new bedroom dream rock from Guelph’s Memoryhouse, a popular 1980’s cover by a less abrasive Crystal Castles as well as some new music from Wildlife and Deadmau5.
Often, artists that are on the margins of the mainstream will cover a popular song from the past in order to attract more attention or airplay than they would with their own music. I'd like to know what you think... do you feel this is a move that tarnishes a band or is it a step that a deserving artist should take in order to broaden their audience?
