The pride of "Porkerville, Nova Scotia," Construction and Destruction are one of the most raw, occasionally primitive folk-rock bands I've ever encountered. They're a duo featuring the super sweet Colleen Collins and the super shy David Trenaman, a couple who work together on their emotive songs and have also been a big part of efforts by Baby Eagle, Shotgun Jimmie, and the Burning Hell among others. Their latest album is called Mutatis Mutandis and it kinda scares the hell right outta me. There's joy and therapeutic freedom in there somewhere but it occasionally comes across like a John & Yoko primal scream therapy session, without as much blood-curdling screaming. I've decided to focus our attention upon a somewhat shambolic, Neil Young-style jam from the record today. Here's C & D with "Nightshade."
