Since the dawn of rock and roll, people have tried to figure out how to capture it's essence on film. Many great filmmakers have tried their hands at it, and a handful have even succeeded, but the really good rockumentary is still an elusive subject.
Montreal rising stars Karkwa are the latest band to put out a movie about their exploits. A year after their surprise Polaris Prize win in 2010, the band is releasing a documentary called Les Cendres De Verre. The film is made up of live performances, special acoustic sessions, and behind the scenes footage of the band making and promoting their breakthrough release, Les Chemins de Verre. Judging by the trailer, it's going to be a beautiful piece of filmmaking, which should go nicely with Karkwa's music.
So let's talk rockumentarys! What's your favourite? What band would you like to see captured on film?
