It is Tuesday (though yes, it sure does feel like Monday), and that means Tour Diary Tuesday. And today is the deluxe edition.
Not only do I talk to Seth Smith of Dog Day, but also filmmaker Xan Aranda about her first feature film: Andrew Bird: Fever Year. The documentary looks at a year in the touring life of Chicago musician and singer Andrew Bird. And if you’re wondering, the title is not metaphorical; the man had a fever for most of the 160 dates of the tour. The film premiers here at the Vancouver International Film Festival as well as in New York.
It’s not the easiest way to make a living, as well all know, but interestingly but both Seth and his band mate/wife Nancy Urich as well as Andrew divide their time between rural life, music making and touring. Balance seems to be the key, and I’ll do my best to bring you some of that today, too.
