Hey CBCR3 listeners! I'm Emma Godmere, perhaps better known smushed-together as "emmagodmere" on the blog. On today's show, you'll get to hear Craig cracking me up and more importantly, some excellent tracks from some of my favourite Ottawa- and Toronto-based acts, which I'm very excited to share.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to step into a real radio studio again for Craig's Listener Co-Host Initiative, as I've been recording my own show through much simpler, at-home technology (read: iPhone) as of late. I host a little show called Now Playing on CHUO 89.1 FM, a campus/community radio station in Ottawa, and I've been doing my best to keep it going remotely since I moved to Toronto in August. (I made the move for an awesome organization called Canadian University Press, which, among other things, provides a newswire service for campus newspapers all over the country.)

Living in the Big Smoke has really just made me extra patriotic when it comes to supporting bands from my national capital hometown, so today's playlist includes such Ottawa-based (or formerly Ottawa-based) bands as Kalle Mattson, The Balconies, The Acorn, The White Wires and Hollerado.

I'm curious to know if you guys also feel an extra sense of pride when it comes to homegrown bands, and if you take it upon yourselves to spread the word about great music coming from your hometown, too. In your view, what's the best band to come out of your own little piece of home and native land? And do you also try to insert rhymes and alliteration in your writing wherever possible?
