Oh audience, we hardly knew yee. For the last Indian Summer I present to you Leela Gilday, a Juno winning singer-songwriter from the Northwest Territories.
Growing up in the small community of Edzo, she witnessed community gatherings called drum dances where everyone she knew would gather in joyous celebrations that started in the evening and lasted until the morning light.
Later on, she received a degree in music and was well on her way to earning a Master's with a specialty in Opera singing before she realized that she had to find something that expressed her soul more freely.
On this show she debuts some of her new music (including a call to arms on behalf of the hundreds of Missing and Murdered Aboriginal women in Canada) and reveals why she had to leave home to find her voice.
And don't forget Ab-Originals returns next week with all your favourite hosts in their regular slots.
