Here's what made the news today, Feb. 13, 2012:

Though he skipped Sunday’s Grammy Awards ceremony, Kanye West swept the rap categories, including a best rap album for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Canadian R&B singer Melanie Fiona took two Grammys for “Fool For You,” her team-up with Cee Lo Green

The American Catholic League is spitting brimstone over Nicki Minaj's performance at the Grammys, which featured a pope, an exorcism and — worst of all — a “scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards [over] an altar boy.”

Rick Ross plans to release two solo LPs in 2012, according to DJ Khaled, as well as contributing to Dr. Dre’s ever-unreleased Detox.

Killer Mike has announced R.A.P. Music, a new album produced by El-P and due May 15.

Almost two months later, an American concert promoter remains “captive” in Angola after Nas failed to show up for a New Year’s concert in Luanda.

Common’s beef with Drake is, uh, “kind of over now.”
