Toronto-based Great Lake Swimmers just dropped their fifth full-length album, New Wild Everywhere. To celebrate the occasion, CBC Music enticed the band to come and perform their new record in Glenn Gould Studio. We figured it was a good idea, since their fourth CD, Lost Channels, got them Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, and a spot on the Polaris Prize shortlist.
They agreed, and gave what was the world-premiere performance of that album. When the Junos come around again next year, it's a safe bet that Tony Dekker and company will have yet more nominations. When that happens, you'll be able to say you heard it all here first, and were way ahead of the curve. Tune in to Canada Live on April 5 at 7 p.m. to hear the concert.
