Hello everyone, my name is Jeff Cusack, and I'm going to be your listener co-host for this Thursday's edition of The Craig Norris Hour!
Like all of you reading this post, I'm a huge Radio 3 fan (my username is BotchedAttempt). This station has introduced me to more good music than I could possibly keep track of. Some of the artists I chose for today, like Coeur de Pirate, Yukon Blonde, and Galaxie, are bands that I first came across through R3. I hope you all like your music "eclectic", because my playlist is very eclectic. Genres represented here run the gamut; we've got pop, rock, rap, and electronic. Is this first time that Datsik has been played on an R3 show?
I live in Halifax, where I co-founded a boutique music label known as "LaserSquid", that specializes in electronic music. We're currently developing a fantastic one-day music festival called "We're All Young Now" that's going to run on May 6th, from noon until 2am the next day, at Alderney Landing on the Dartmouth waterfront. The event is part of National Youth Arts Week and is split into two sections:
Starting at noon, there's a free outdoor show that runs until 7pm. The whole thing is situated right on Halifax Harbour, and features Maritime electronic notables like Mat Trouble, Pineo, and Grubby. At 9:00pm things move inside Alderney Gate, where they become slightly less free and even more awesome. This portion of the proceedings features trailblazing maritime artists like Dezza, Dono and The Real Molloy, and P-80!
It's going to be a fantastic show, and if any R3'ers can make it, I'd love to see you there ...and yes, there will be lasers.
Before I go, I'd like to give a shoutout to the R3 community. R3 wouldn't be the same without all of you kooky commenters, and while I don't comment a lot myself, I always look forward to reading what you have to say.
