Oh My Darling is a country-folk quartet from Winnipeg. Formed after a winter's day jam session, the four talented musicians combined their forces and have mixed "bluegrass, Appalachian old time, southern twang, and Franco-folk" into something unique and unexpected.

Here, Oh My Darling's Vanessa Kuzina answers our ongoing "Meet" questionnaire:

Q: Describe the music you make in 5 words or less.
A: Sweet country music.

Q: What is the last movie you saw -- and if you wrote a song about it, what would it be called?
A: The last movie I saw was the Scorsese film Hugo. Such an amazingly beautiful film to watch, transporting me back in time to Paris in the 1930's. The story follows Hugo, an orphaned young man who is determined to find a message from his late father and uncovers the secrets of the brilliant film artist George Méliès. I would title the song "Heart Shaped Key."

Q: Where are you most likely to be found on a Saturday night?

A: Oh My Darling would most likely be found together on a stage on a Saturday night, if not on a stage playing music then taking in some music from the stage at the Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club in Winnipeg.

Q: How about on a Sunday morning?
A: Sunday morning's you'll find us soaking up some R & R. Sharing breakfast with friends and loved ones, drinking coffee, telling tales of Saturday night's adventures. Rosalyn makes a great cup of coffee and Vanessa makes mean pancakes.

Q: If you could record a duet with any Canadian artist, who would you pick? And who would produce it?
A: We all share a great love for Neil Young. We  adoringly call him 'Uncle Neil', sharing our hometown Winnipeg with him we feel a connection about being from this amazing city on the Prairies. And to produce? None other than the great Daniel Lanois.

Q: The strangest thing that ever happened to me during a live show is...
A: In our four years of touring we have had many exciting road and live show adventures. Everything from bug swallowing, birds flying in and out of a festival stage, catching a Garter snake slither under the stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, dragonflies landing on a microphone mid song, avalanches, a sweet little old lady walking up on stage wanting an intimate and interactive show, spontaneous and unstoppable laughter and sporadic running-off-stage-sick-to-stomach on New Year's Eve dressed as Patsy Cline. Oh My Darling's most recent live show adventure was at this year's Festival du Voyageur when the rowdy tent full of dancers turned into a chorus line of topless male dancers on stage.

• Oh My Darling's debut full length, Sweet Nostalgia, is available now.
