When Winnipeg teenager Savannah Rae Boyko and her momager came up with the concept for Boyko's new music video, they wanted to show the teen as a regular girl who transforms herself into a pop star.
Kimberley, Savannah’s mom, said it was important for them to show the “regular girl” side of the story so that young girls didn’t see the glammed-up, 17-year-old Savannah and think that’s what she looks like in real life.
The idea came from a birthday party Savannah attended, where the guests were treated to a makeover and photo shoot. The result is her first music video for the song "Sick Obsession."
Savannah is not afraid to show her true self in the video, and insisted on keeping the moments where she is making silly faces and generally just having a good time hanging out with her friends – which, by the way, are her real friends from her Winnipeg high school.
