By 1980, Talking Heads were a top international act on the cutting edge of new wave in pop music. They were also looking for a way to freshen themselves up, and their sound. The result was a new album, Remain in Light, released in the fall of 1980.

The album signaled a new direction for the band, with a compelling blend of funk, Afropop and new wave. Talking Heads previewed the new sound in Canada at the Heatwave festival in the summer of 1980.

By the fall of that year, Talking Heads were touring with a number of talented guest musicians to help recreate the sound of their new album. The energy off stage is amazing. During that tour, the band played the Capitol Theatre in New Jersey. This video captures a beautiful moment from the show.
