Is the best really the brightest?

As the headlines go, all is not well in Middle Earth. Well, all is not well for those (like me) who are awfully excited by the Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit. On Tuesday director Peter Jackson debuted some of the footage using the new 48fps technology at the CinemaCon conference. And the reviews were not good.

I should say that it wasn’t the acting or anything that usually goes into a review, no – this is about the hyper-real technology. People were less than impressed commenting that it looked like a cheap, tv soap-opera.

It's interesting to me that just as Jackson is trying out this new technology, Instagram, the photo sharing software that makes your digital photos look old and faded, sold for a billion dollars to Facebook. It certainly does put us a technological crossroads, if you ask me. But then I want to ask you:

HAS TECHNOLOGY TAKEN THE ART OUT OF THE ART FORM?

Maybe I’m the only one not-so taken with HD tv and 3D movies. Don’t we all look better in subdued lighting?
