No, not on Bozo the Clown.
Radiohead. Smashing Pumpkins frontman, Billy Corgan, wants to pee on Radiohead. Not in those words, of course. And, not literally, I hope.
But, in a recent interview on Antiquiet, Billy rages about the "pomposity" of Radiohead - and the media that fawn over them.
Granted, this is rich coming from Billy Corgan, but inside of his attention-grabbing soundbites are a nugget of interesting truth: We do hold certain musical acts above the rest in a sort of elitist way. In the interview, Billy laments "this value system that says Jonny Greenwood is more valuable than Ritchie Blackmore."
Admittedly, it is easy for us to poo poo Billy's pee pee comments because we here at R3 only play "emerging" bands, and of course they're much more artistically important than "mainstream" or "commercial" bands.
Aren't they?

NOTE: I won't be on the blog during the show today because I'm recording a special edition of The R3-30! Even though this topic is contentious, I know you'll all play nice, right?
