I'm really enjoying this top 5 thing I'm doing on Saturdays, I hope you are too. There's nothing more satisfying than seeing my entire weeks worth of lurking condensed into a top five list, I tell ya!
There were a lot of honorable mentions this week as well, including articles on the homoginization of pop music, Billy Corgan and a self-improvement plan for Stephen Harper.
But since its the weekend, I'm going to focus on the visual and audible portion. And so it goes...
1. Crucial Celebrity Playlists
My favourite way to discover new music is by finding out what my favourite artist listen to. Hence, the celebrity playlist is a great way of finding new music. Check out some from Warren Ellis and Lightning Dust's Artists Podcast Series. Good stuff.
2. Crucial Classic
My mid-year resolution is to start listening to classic records in their entirety again instead "just the hits". This week has been all about Astral Weeks by Van Morrisson. Stream the entire record below
3. L'art Crucial
90's art shows for kids! DIY! What happened to this sort of programming? Do they still exist? I haven't watched TV in awhile but hey, I don't see a modern day Art Attack flooding my twitter feed...
4. Crucial Flick
In honor of Mick Jagger's birthday on Thursday, I'd like to recommend you all watch his 1970 film Performance. Just fantastic.
5. Crucial Taunt
Last but not least, check out Dusted's latest video for Into the Atmosphere, directed by Aaron Kopff and Paul Gerretsen.
What are your favourite discoveries this week?
