This week Radio 2 Drive gets Up Close with Cuff The Duke and the Wapiti Music Festival in Fernie, British Columbia.
August 10 and 11 2012 mark the second annual Wapiti festival and it looks like it is going to be a blast. The focus is on fresh Canadian indie music and the line-up confirms this with acts like The Boom Booms and We Are The Cityon the bill.
Wapiti is a festival that has its priorities straight. On the opening day the festival gates open at 6 p.m., the beverage garden opens at 6:30 p.m. and then the music starts at 7 p.m. Perfect scheduling if you ask me. Pick your spot, get your beer and then enjoy the music. Sweet!
Cuff The Duke are among the best known acts at the festival and they hit the stage at 6 p.m. on Saturday. We recorded our Up Close session with the band a few days after they put the final touches on their latest Greg Keelor-produced album Morning Comes.
