Real Cool Time: The Wild Unknown

Last week a few of my girlfriends went to The Wild Unknown's Forest Party, an outdoor nighttime concert put on by The Family Band in the Catskills near Delhi, New York. This year's performers were the enchanting Jennifer Castle and Stephen McBean of Jerk With A Bomb/Black Mountain/Pink Mountaintops fame.

They were only gone for two days, but upon their return, my ladies seemed to be radiating with this almost lunar glow. Reconnected with nature, people and music in a near utopia for two nights of music and good times.

It got me thinking, how fortunate are we as musicians to be able to take part in such experiences in the strangest of places. In my own experience, music has taken me to the most bizarre places on Earth; from an isolated field in Northern China to a club in Tokyo to a teenage girl's living room in Fresno, California and a makeshift stage in Golden BC for an archery shoot. It's pretty amazing what kind of strange, once in a lifetime things can happen.

What are some of the strangest or most incredible places you've seen a concert?
