Two of Canada's biggest-selling musical minds are getting married.
Pop star Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger announced their engagement on Tuesday evening and sent social media into the kind of frenzy usually reserved for natural disasters.
In light of the announcement, gaze with us as we ponder what kind of musical output may result from this Lavicklebackian hybrid.
1. The Duet: Ah, new love. Fresh and pure as the dew glistening in the soft glow of the dawn. How can one capture this feeling? Why, write a song together, of course. You can almost hear music executives palpably salivating over a new album by the duo that was instantly dubbed "Chavril." Featuring new material and reworkings from the duo's back catalogue, we can see this no-brainer insta-gold record out by Christmas. Or this.
2. The Fashion Line: Lavigne already runs her own fashion line called Abbey Dawn, "inspired by Avril’s own closet." She now has a whole other closet to be inspired by! Look for Abbey Don, featuring the tightest men's T-shirts and leather pants that money can buy.
3. The Perfume-Cologne: Calvin Klein did it with One, so we know a unisex perfume-cologne is possible. One can almost imagine that one perfect fragrance that invokes the power-pop-punk of Lavigne with overnotes signalling the hard-living rock of Kroeger. A whimsical combination of roses, grease and a bathroom stall.
