The Avril Lavigne/Chad Kroeger engagement and its amazing musical potential

We're big fans of the pending Avril Lavigne/Chad Kroeger marriage. This is the kind of Canadian power marriage that could make Ian & Sylvia look like Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman by comparison.

Despite what the many haters are saying, the musical combination could be amazing. The two are a natural fit, and are already collaborating on Lavigne's upcoming album, but this could reboot some of their old successes.

As Lavigne's star persona develops and she moves into her second marriage to a Canadian rock star, we pray that the time is right for a sequel to the song that launched her into our hearts, "Sk8er Boi." To help make this happen, we've penned a sample of what could come. Avril, if you want to use our version or any part of it, please feel free (after we talk money).

Sk8er Boi II

(Sung to the original tune

He was a boy.
She was a girl.
Could we have been more oblivious?
He was sort of metal.
She was straight pop.
People hoped both would stop.
He wanted her.
She'd never tell.
Secretly she wanted him as well.
When everyone heard
Their minds were blown.
He was old, she wasn’t fully grown.

He was in Nickelback, old enough for a heart attack.
She was just old enough to drive.
Who could guess her and him? Was marriage just a whim?
Or maybe some marketing campaign?

Five years from now, he sits at home feeding the baby, he's all alone.
He turns on TV and guess who’s with her?
Avril engaged to Justin Bieber.
He calls up his band.
With a slip of the tongue, they
Tell him she’d also wed Bachman and Neil Young.
He shakes his head, and knows that she’s gone.
Man, that girl really loves CanCon.

[x2:]
He was in Nickelback, old enough for a heart attack.
She was just old enough to drive.
It wasn’t about his songs. She wouldn’t stay too long.
She had more Canuck stars to wed.
