Ahead of the 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, we asked several of the nominees to reply to our questionnaire.

Here, Kira Isabella, who is nominated in the "Rising Star" category.

Q: Describe your latest album in 5 words or less
A: Soundtrack to my diary.

Q: How would you describe the Canadian country music scene to someone who knows nothing about it?
A: The Canadian Country Music scene is different because it’s such a family. It's so amazing because I've been accepted into it!

Q: If you weren't making music for a living, what do you think you would be doing?
A: I would have liked to be a kindergarten teacher or something working with children, I love kids. Or a music supervisor for TV & films. I feel like I'd be good at that.

Q: If you could record in any city in the world, where would you go? What one piece of musical equipment would you bring?
A: The Canadian Country Music scene is different because it’s such a family. It's so amazing because I've been accepted into it!

Q: If you've attended the CCMA Awards before, what one piece of advice would you give to someone who hasn't been?
A: I would tell someone who has never been to the CCMA's before to prepare for a night of the best country music talent that Canada has to offer. And get ready to meet some amazing people.
