Party rockin' American dance duo LMFAO, whose hits "Party Rock Anthem" and "Sexy and I Know It" have sold millions worldwide and appeared in countless ads and soundtracks, have decided to call it quits. At least for now.
According to Redfoo, who started the Grammy-winning dance rock duo with his nephew SkyBlu in 2007, the pair is taking a break to focus on their own interests.
"I feel like we've been doing this for so long, five or six years," Redfoo, 37, told The Associated Press earlier this week. "And we're kind of like saying, well, let's just do what's natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time."
An avid tennis fan, Redfoo was recently in the stands at the U.S. Open cheering on Victoria Azarenka, who lost to Serena Williams. He has also been coaching Ayaka Okuno, and is launching his own line of tennis clothing.
While Redfoo says he is recording music, and that it’s in the same vein as the duo’s dance-heavy hits, it’s unclear when – or even if – LMFAO will reunite musically.
"I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we're always family," he said. "He'll always be my nephew, I'll always be his uncle."
