Late last week, Brad Paisley released the debut single from his upcoming album. The album is set for release on April 9, 2013, and is still awaiting a title.  This first track, “Southern Comfort Zone,” is one of 14 songs that Paisley and his band have recently recorded, but we’ll have to wait until next year to see what other songs appear on the album.

Have a listen to the track’s sampling of The Andy Griffith Show, Jeff Foxworthy and a NASCAR race, as the Brentwood Baptist Church choir kicks off the song:

Brad Paisley – “Southern Comfort Zone”

Paisley told The Tennessean in a recent interview that his “rule for this record is to leave our comfort zone as musicians and songwriters and production-wise, themes and everything, and think outside the box.”

The new single was written by Paisley, Chris DuBois and Kelley Lovelace. That writing team has also been responsible for past Paisley hits such as “Water,” “Online” and “Remind Me.”  “Southern Comfort Zone” references southern staples, while championing the need to see the world in order to appreciate what you have at home.

Watch a video on the making of “Southern Comfort Zone”:

“I will say, I love Nashville and I love the South and I love living in that area,” Paisley said to The Tennessean. “It’s very comfortable, and we all feel so at home there. It’s not until you see the world that you learn to appreciate that. I’m encouraging people to take a look around. There’s some great places around the world that will expand your mind and also make you love this Southern comfort zone.”
