Hello! If you’re reading this, then perhaps you are also listening (I hope you are) to The Craig Norris Hour. If you’re not, then you’re missing out - and your state can be easily remedied!
I was lucky enough to get to sit down with Craig and co-host today’s program. When choosing a few of the songs for today, I chose artists that I associate a lot of memories and people with. The artists span from favourites of high school, to reminiscing about fantastic shows I got to see this past summer (with fantastic people!). Think of it as a soundtrack to my life, (or is the vaguely narcissistic?) - maybe even the soundtrack to your life!
It was fitting that I was home visiting my parents for Thanksgiving, sleeping in my old bedroom - full of old concert posters and fading setlists. My parents asked me to pick out a new colour palette for my old bedroom, goodbye teen-angst blue, hello afternoon tea yellow! My brother and sister were also home, and I don’t think we’ve all been under the same roof for that amount of time since Christmas (maybe, not even). We even went to Canada’s Wonderland all together. I rode Leviathan twice, and it was awesome, and you’re jealous.
To top it all off after co-hosting I went out for dinner to catch up with my old prom date, and former R3 Fan of the Year, Colin Medley. Talk about trips down memory lane!
I had a lot of fun co-hosting. I can’t remember exactly what I said (must be old age catching up with me...or selective memory?), but I think I accused my mom of wanting to run away with Paul McCartney. Sorry Mommy.
The point is, that I find (as I am sure you do too) music has an amazing ability to encapsulate a time, an event, or an emotion - or even, all three. It can be a powerful trigger and tool to the past.
Thank you for listening, and thank you for helping me make a new memory.
