We're into our second week reading about Canada’s mostly untold punk history, thanks to handsomeness expert Sam Sutherland and his new book, Perfect Youth – The Birth of Canadian Punk.
Last week, we had a field trip to the site of the old Crash 'N' Burn club in Toronto. This week, we visit a Toronto music landmark and learn more about the infamous "Last Pogo." Watch this:
So, what'd you make of that? Could you feel the punk rock history raining down upon you? Or did you just feel the rain? What a miserable day that was. Anyway, congrats again to all of you who won copies of Perfect Youth last week. If you didn't, I hope you'll obtain a copy yourself and join our book club. I could use some informed questions before I meet with Sutherland next week.
Oh, and book clubber zoot aloors has created an amazing playlist of bands representing Canada's first wave of punk rockers.
Have a listen to zoot aloors' playlist.
How would you describe your engagement with Canadian punk music? Do you have any questions for Sutherland about his book? Are you eager to read Perfect Youth? Otherwise, what’cha readin’?
