This week on Choral Concert, Peter Togni brings us the Choral Concert classics.
Togni has been hosting the show for four years now, and over that time the Choral Concert team has built up a list of favourite pieces – yours and ours – that have always had the biggest and best response.
On this program, you will hear great choral works like Handel’s Zadok the Priest, Hubert Parry’s Jerusalem and the 40-voice motet, Spem in Alium, by Thomas Tallis.
You will also hear some of Peter Togni’s interesting and slightly unusual favourites, pieces like Columba Aspexit by the 12th-century abbess Hildegard of Bingen, featuring British soprano Emma Kirkby.
And in the category of the truly amazing and unique, you will hear Igor Stravinsky’s Laudate Dominum in a classic 1960s recording with the CBC Symphony Orchestra and the Festival Singers of Toronto.
Choral Concert, the “favourites” edition. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., (9:30 to 11:30 NT) on CBC Radio 2.
