In honour of Pop Montreal, today's Foodie Friday is all about soda pop! Sugary, bubbly, and refreshing in all of its tooth rotting glory, today we celebrate soft drinks!
As far as terminology, while in England, I was disturbed when someone said they love drinking 'squash'. I imagined a sinewy orange pumpkin drink. In the end, it was Sprite. In a Tennessee diner, I was very confused to discover that Pepsi was a type of Coke. Also, am I the only one who gets serious giggles when someone says 'soda pop' earnestly?
WHAT DO YOU CALL IT? Soda? Pop? Coke? Sugar water?
WHAT DO YOU DRINK? Would you be a pro in a taste test? Any brands you detest? What brands would you import to Canada? Do you avoid pop altogether?
Maybe you're the Thomas Edison of carbonated beverages. Do you have any ideas for next Orbitz, or Crystal Pepsi fizzing away in that brain of yours? Finally, let us remember pop throughout the ages, and those cans that never made it back onto shelves. (RIP Diet Hubba Bubba).
