Puns are widely regarded among dads and Twitter users as one of the highest forms of humour, so when Grant Lawrence Live launched the #CDNbandbeer hashtag, it trended its way right into the top ten topics in Canada that day, and over to the National Post.
Inspired by the announcement that the Barenaked Ladies are releasing a beer under their name, the hashtag also makes marital sense: in the era of the hockey lockout, beer has lost its soulmate in Canada. With Leonard Cohen single-handedly filling more arenas this season than any team in the NHL, it seems only natural for music to step up to the altar and wed beer, once and for all.
In honour of this union, CBC Music presents a gallery illustrating some #CDNbandbeer highlights. These designs were crafted by our senior designer Ben Didier (@prettyuglydsgn on Twitter), whose love of brews and bands shows through in this 8-pack.
