March 8, 2013, is International Women’s Day. At CBC Music we’re celebrating with a gallery of some of the most talented women in world music. Some are activists, some are freedom fighters; one has been a politician, others are just "political;" some are young, and others have passed away, leaving a legacy of empowerment to the next generation of female singers. All of them are talented artists who make a difference in people's lives, enriching the world with their music. Today we celebrate these awesome women, as well as women everywhere.
