Good day and welcome back, listeners. Jay Ferguson of the Sloan group here again to refresh your radio with mellifluous melodies of the Canadian independent scenery.
It’s Tuesday, and that means New Release Day… umm... if indeed there are new releases to be released. Well, sadly we only have one today… ( an EP from Montreal’s moody and slightly nouveau psychedelic trio, Valleys).
Soooo… what else can we chat about?
Well, on the theme of new releases, I’m curious as to what you hope to hear from your favourite artists once it’s time for them to unleash their latest musical offering on new release day.
Do you like it when they keep on a steady track with a familiar sound (not unlike, say, DOA, The Ramones or AC/DC)?
Or perhaps you like to be surprised, perhaps not knowing might come next from your faves (ala the often erratic Neil Young, Broken Social Scene, Prince or The Beatles in their time).
I’m on the fence. I don’t like surprise parties and eat the same meal for breakfast each day, but would welcome a pure bubblegum record by Owen Pallett.
Over to you!
