A colleague was searching for songs to go with his feature interview on guerilla gardening. Apparently it's happening right here in Ottawa—who knew?
I rattled off the first few flower songs that came to my head (which ones come to your mind?) and then I did a quick search here to dig up—pardon the pun—some others.
I found a band whose name fit the theme with a song to match. The Fox in the Flowers is a Calgary person, but he or she doesn't say who it is behind the alliterative name. Most of the songs on the Fox's page are instrumental ditties. They are simple but delicately beautiful compositions for guitar with a sprinkle of harmonica or voice thrown in every once in a while.
It's easy to picture this tune, "Stuck in a Poplar", as the backdrop to something very lovely. After all, there are far worse places to be stuck in than a tree.
