When 2010 began, it was universally agreed that it looked like it was going to be a fantastic year in Canadian Indie Music. It did not disappoint!
There were so many incredible albums released this past year! In my humble opinion, some stalwarts released their best stuff yet! The New Pornographers, Stars, The Sadies and Arcade Fire are just a few examples of that.
But there were some breakout artists this year, too. They were simmering away and 2010 seemed to be the year that they stepped it up a nothch. They make "Breaking New Sound" an easier job for CBC Radio 3. Artists like Hollerado, Saida Baba Talibah, Hannah Georgas and Aidan Knight!
Most exciting, perhaps, are the artists that were just revving up in 2010! I can't wait to see wait 2011 has in store for acts like Bonjay, The Beauties, and Elisapie Isaac!
