On this episode of Extended Play I ask: “Is the Video more Important than the Song?”
Now before you get all “no way” on me… consider some just released YouTube stats on their Most Popular Videos of All Time. Coming in at a resounding #1: “Baby” by Justin Bieber with 424,988,898 views. Yes, that’s Four Hundred Million. In second and third, Lady Gaga and Shakira. “Charlie Bit my Finger – again” at #4 (jeez, I just watched that again… so cute!) and rounding out the top 5 – Eminem ft. Rihanna.
Anyway, videos are pretty much a thing again. So we thought we’d check in with some folks who can tackle this question. I speak with Janelle Monae’s “Tightrope” director Wendy Morgan, Vancouver indie video crew Salazar, AUX TV music director Jeff Rogers, and Hollerado – the Manotick, Ontario band that made a little video… and it got a lot more views than they were expecting: 756, 851 and counting.
