Every week, Bandwidth host Meg Wilcox gives her pick for a great, upbeat track by an Ontario artist to kick-start your weekend.
You may have already heard of Rise Ashen and Flying Down Thunder: this duo came together last year to make an album that mixed Rise Ashen's DJing skills with Flying Down Thunder's traditional Algonquin singing talents. Their first album, One Nation, was nominated for a Juno last year.
Their second album, out last week, is called North Wind. Rise Ashen and Flying Down Thunder still fuse traditional Algonquin singing with all sorts of dance-floor beats, and here, in the title track, you can also hear some beatboxing from Nelson Tagoona. Click below to hear the song.
